Most Rewarding Law School Experience: "At Iowa Law, I’ve had the privilege of immersing myself in invaluable experiential learning opportunities, particularly through the Legal Clinic. Here, it’s not just about mastering substantive law and trial procedures; it’s about honing essential legal practice skills that transcend the classroom. This hands-on experience lays a solid foundation for a seamless transition into the workforce, giving us the knowledge and capability to succeed even in unfamiliar terrain. Beyond skill development, my time in the clinic has helped me build a network of connections and solidified my dreams of becoming a defense attorney."
What’s Ahead: Clerking for the Iowa Supreme Court for Justice Matthew McDermott in Des Moines, Iowa.
Most Rewarding Law School Experience: "Though law school can be a challenge, the relationships I’ve built at Iowa Law have made it extremely rewarding. That’s because the faculty are not just renowned academics—they’re friends, mentors, and so much more. They’re willing to go out of their way to help students succeed and engage in meaningful conversations beyond office hours. I feel fortunate to receive one-on-one paper feedback from Labor Law Professor César Rosado Marzán, talk about judicial clerkships with LAWR Professor Mary Ksobiech, and discuss future life goals with International Environmental Law Professor Jonathan Carlson."
What’s Ahead: Clerking for Judge Eric G. Bruggink on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims before joining Polsinelli Law Firm.
Most Rewarding Law School Experience: "The Writing and Academic Success Center has profoundly impacted my time at Iowa Law. Professor Anderson goes the extra mile to create a friendly and collaborative environment for students to get feedback and help, and I can’t thank her enough. Since I’ve started tutoring at the Center, my writing skills have improved drastically. As much as the students learn from me, I also learn from them. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained have been a direct translation to my summer legal work and my successful job search. I can now say I am confident in my abilities to make a difference in people’s lives."
What’s Ahead: Working for Morgan and Morgan in Nashville, Tennessee, the number one personal injury firm in the United States.
Most Rewarding Law School Experience: "Iowa Law’s Career Services team was extremely helpful in securing my future job. I attended a panel they organized for Southwest recruitment, which proved instrumental in my job search. The panel, comprised of Iowa Law alumni, facilitated networking opportunities that made it easy to build connections with industry professionals. One of the connections I made ultimately encouraged me to apply when the firm I had my eyes on was hiring. Without the guidance I received from Iowa Law’s Career Services and alumni network, landing my dream job in Big Law would have been far more challenging."
